History Of Boise City
In the 1860s, the city grew rapidly because of the gold rush and also because the historic east-west wagon route, the Oregon trail. In 1864, Boise was incorporated as a city and capitol. By 1868 the city had more than four hundred structures. The capitol building was completed in 1886. The railway service came when the elegant Union Pacific Depot was built in 1925. The military had a strong presence during World War II in Boise. A flying and training base was established. In the 1960s, the city was allowed to annex many of the suburban areas and the population grow.
