History Of Denver
Denver was founded in 1858. The area was virtually unsettled until the 1850s when the region became a mining and supply settlement in Arapahoe County, Kansas Territory. People came to look for gold. Between 1870 and 1890 the city's population increased from less than 5,000 to over 100,000 when silver was discovered in the nearby mountains. In 1920 there were over 250,000 people living in the city.
