History Of Tucson
The Spanish came to the region in 1692 and during the 1800th century, many battles occurred in Tucson between Apache warriors, Spanish colonists and Spanish soldiers. Tucson became part of the United States in 1853. But it wasn't until 1912 that the state Arizona became the 48th state to enter the union. The University of Arizona was founded in 1885. In 1934, John Dillinger and five members of his gang were arrested in Tucson. They were the top names on the FBI's first Public Enemy list. In recent years Tucson has experienced among the highest growth rates in the United States.
